The European Alliance for SMC and BMC
SMC (sheet molding compound) and BMC (bulk molding compound) are high-performance fiber reinforced composite materials. These materials are particularly suited to produce lightweight, complex-shaped components in medium to large volume manufacturing series.
While providing predictable mechanical strength, durability and heat resistance, SMC and BMC can also combine structural properties with a high-quality smooth surface (both mass-colored and painted). For these reasons, SMC and BMC are increasingly used in a wide range of applications and end-use markets.
Membership
The European Alliance for SMC BMC is an industry association promoting the use of SMC and BMC composite materials. The Alliance highlights the benefits of using SMC BMC to designers across Europe, develops product design standards, generates information on SMC BMC eco-footprint, and supports potential users with advice for creating new parts in SMC and BMC.
The members of the SMC BMC Alliance origin from the entire SMC BMC value chain, including raw materials suppliers, SMC BMC manufacturers, molders, as well as designers and engineers working for OEMs and Tier Ones in a variety of market sectors. The membership is limited to European companies and institutions.
We offer three types of membership:
- Full membership: for European companies directly involved in the SMC BMC value chain
- Associate membership: for any European company with an interest in the SMC BMC industry
- Scientific membership: for European research institutes and universities with an interest in SMC BMC
